Function: Attached garages typically serve either as a parking area for a vehicles, storage, or a combination of both.

What We Look At:  Typically, many of the components and interior & exterior finishes on a garage will be of similar design and construction as the main house, so the same standards usually apply to an attached garage, as would apply to the house itself.

Typical problems we see are: Improper firewall separation between house & garage; unsafe overhead garage door reversing mechanisms; lack of an insulated or fire-rated door between the garage and house; no safety auto-closures on the garage/house common door; "do-it-yourself" wiring in the garage workshop; etc.
